Who We Are

The Sustainable Tourism Association of Hawaiʻi (STAH) is a member-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to protect Hawaiʻi's unique, natural environment and host culture through the promotion of responsible travel and education programs relating to sustainable tourism for residents, businesses, and visitors.

We offer the state's only third-party sustainability certification for tour operators, and our certified companies span the four main Hawaiian islands: 13 on Hawaiʻi Island, 17 on Maui, 12 on Oʻahu, and 5 on Kauaʻi. They offer activities ranging from stargazing at nearly 14,000 feet atop Maunakea, to ziplining through treetops, diving deep beneath the ocean waves, and so much more.

As we're entering our 25th year, we are fundraising to enhance and expand our sustainable certification program for tour companies, and develop additional educational materials for tourism professionals, visitors, and community members.
